Global IQ some surprises but mostly predictable

Not sure ever looked this up before. Global IQ by country (Lynn and Vanhanen 2012)

Interesting that matches race studies with Asian at top and African at bottom.

Odd results are Canada@8 being the highest White country vs USA@30. Is this really the power of a border, or does it correlated with the larger Black population in the US?

Israel@44 so it's not true what they say about Jews. While Ashkenazi Jews are reported to have the highest IQ this does not extend to Jews in general, rather supporting the idea that Jew is a religion not an ethnicity.

People seem very sensitive about the social implications of DNA. I accidentally had lunch with Christopher Brand before he was sacked from Edinburgh University. He has an Asian wife in keeping with his IQ research. But what is wrong with facts? Why shouldn't IQ have a genetic factor and why shouldn't it be true that some races are smarter than others? Well the problem is that our society discriminates against people of lower IQ. This is what we need to change. We need to remove various performance features from how we judge people. Or even better we need to stop judging people. But we live under Capitalism where performance is literally everything and our lives are measured in nothing but profit. So living in fear of the "racism" associated with genetic research is missing the whole point. Our society prejudices against people of low IQ!

Following on from this how much of the trend can be explained by looked at the Black population?


Possibly controversial but I'm going to critique myself here. A lot of my arguments from:
(1) Men are 2x more likely to be murdered in the UK than women
(2) America is a failed state because it has world leading levels of violence, rape, drug use, theft etc.
However below 50% of IQ trends between countries can be explained by the size of their Black population. Now the murder stats also correlate with Blacks (in UK a Black is 6x more likely to murder than a white and this is the same in US which also has a much larger Black population). In UK the small population of Blacks doubles the murder rate. I suspect rape stats are the same. Drug use has a lot to do with Capitalism but may well correlate with Blacks as well. So when I say that US is a failed state, actually to be fair to the US, that is largely because they have a very high Black population. And when I say that the US is a poorly educated and stupid country that too correlates largely with their Black population. So I should correct for this factor when comparing countries and saying they have failed. Well they have failed their Black populations, but it means that the criticism needs to be far more complex.

Now people will say it is racist to identity race with IQ. But they need to think that through. It is just a fact. What would be racist is to apply this to an individual and say you are Black you must have a low IQ. That does not work. They may have a high IQ. But you can say that Blacks in general perhaps do not succeed in environments that require high IQ or that society in some way does not support Blacks in some way. Having low IQ should not be a disability regardless race, but unfortunately in this capitalist society built around competition, profit and growth it may well be. And that is the area that we should look to improve.



Sex and Disgust (again)

Done this one before but Rebecca Reid of the Independent discussing Adriano Lameira's ideas that kissing evolved from grooming.

Interesting the writer is struggling with disgust over this.

I've blogged before on the observation that the first thing that sexual desire does is turn off "disgust." What is normally disgusting like spit and mucus. And quite right to protect us from infection, consider sharing someone's knife and fork. But suddenly all that goes out of the window with sex. And I'm sure this is linked to taboo also which is normally "disgust" but that same response gets turned off by sex. Clearly psychological adaptations there to aid reproduction.

Pretty sure if they measured oxytocin levels in grooming animals and humans you would get the same responses. Studies already showed that chimps are more likely to help the chimp that most recently groomed them. So the whole physical basis of bonding probably all feels the same to human and animal. Next question do these responses exist in non social animals like cats... that's a weird one eh?

Mr Starmer says there are no options but his budget Ha! Idiot.

Literally not one part of Starmer's bleatings are true.

All that is happening is Capitalism needs more money to keep foreign investors interested. UK is just a slave to the wealthy investor elite. £1t bank bailouts and endless payments to the city are what Britain has become. Last year £45b payouts to private Bank of England with £20b time tabled annual thereafter. The City was set up to make money not as a bottomless well for the hard earned wealth of the Britons.

So Mr Starmer you say there is no other option? Well an eternity of working people giving money to investors is not an option Anything else is better than your option.

The correct option is full liquidation of the City of London and bulldoze the whole swamp flat. From that moment onwards the state only spends public money on publicly owned enterprise. No more bailouts or freebies to the private sector, no public under-writing of the financial sector. That AAA rating is not the rating of the private sector, private stole it from the tax payer which is AAA-rated and profiteer from it.

If the Capitalists can do better that is totally a matter for them and nothing to do with the state (but they can't cos Capitalism does not work without massive state and tax payer support).

And what is wrong with the state taxing the money it gives in salaries? It makes no difference whether money goes through the hands of Capitalists or State, other than when it goes through State it does not end up off-shore or being spent in pointless activities like private space walks.

Mr Starmer wilfully blind to the obvious.
