Desire and SRH

Godel's Theorems amongst many, many other theorems point to a system being unable to represent itself. It is an intuitive piece of common sense (called SRH in this blog) but it is never-the-less a particularly appealing and enticing impossible that ensnares everyone from Narcissus to in fact most human beings as they have an image of themselves that despite just being a doll is something they will go to extraordinary lengths to protect. All wars are fought just to protect these inanimate dolls.

The question to always guard oneself with when handling the Ego is "Who is handling this doll?" Godel tells us it is not the doll itself!

So ChatGPT has brought Buddhism to this idea to show that actually desire gets broken on exactly the same structure.

Desire is a bodily function. It is simple and authentic.

However if we look in the mirror to see our doll we can start to dress them up, tell stories about them and start to form wishes and desires for this mirror image. This is exactly what advertising does. It shows us a version of our doll that we can start to play with.

Now this is a lot more devious than it looks.

A classic source of problems is sexual desire. But this is actually quite simple. What becomes complex is when we project it onto our doll. We then look at this doll and decide who it should fulfil sexual desire with. And we imagine that it will be so much better a doll when this is done. Sexual desire now becomes just a clothing for our doll to make it look good.

Reminds me in fact of a joke that illustrates this. Man is ship wrecked with Scarlett Johansson. So they realise they are going to be there some time and she agrees to have sex with him. In the morning the guys says to her, "I have this very strange request, but would you be okay to put my clothes on and walk off round the beachhead and then walk back to me." Johansson is a bit weirded out, but nothing else to do she says okay sure, how bad can this be. So we wanders off round the beachhead, is gone a but and then emerges on the beach. As she gets closer the guy runs up to her shouting "hey mate, hey mate you will never guess who I shagged last night"

This is exactly the point about sexual desire. Authentically it is just sexual desire. But once seen through the mirror and in the world of the self then it becomes a feature of the doll and things becomes relative, It is no longer that we slept with someone but now who they are and how they compare to others. And we reward ourselves for sex, and relax because goals are achieved, and feel good about our self because of validation and a million other relative things we hang in the doll. All of it is mental fabrication,. And the question we always remember to ask:

"Who is handling this doll?"

So SRH becomes directly relevant here because we think we can live our life vicariously through the actions of this doll. But it is impossible. The puppets are never the Puppet Master, they do not move by themselves, they do not feel, or live: all this is projected in the Present Moment from the puppet master.

Plato's Cave becomes a bit simpler. The Sun is the True Self, through its brightness in the Present Moment we illuminate all the mental formations in the mirror one of which we take to be our self. Grasping that as our self blinds us to the truth that we are the very light that causes its appearance.

And in the context of this Blog, with all this talk of mirrors, it comes as no surprise that My Muse who I dressed up as the inspiration for my enlightenment was actually the doll that led me to cling to myself the most. In the world of the mirror everything is just mental constructions. If we cling to any we misunderstand the relationship here. We are making these things, we do not need them, and clinging is quite the wrong attitude. No matter how beautiful the things we make, like My Muse, grasping them as though they are real negates our power as their creator.
