End of an Era as Britain closes its last coal fired powerstation...

 Seriously end of an era. 90% of all coal mined up to 1900 was mined in the UK. If you work it out that is more than 50% of CO2 in the atmosphere is down to the British. And this is why the Industrial Revolution happened in UK and how we managed to run an Empire across the globe. Energy is the key. But when it comes to Capitalism all that wealth was stolen, and the people who actually made it possible mining that coal were discarded like chaff by that evil Pro-Capitalist Thatcher, no golden hand shakes, no awards for service, no pensions, just a welcome to the dole queue. There are whole communities in the Rhonda valley that have never worked since Thatcher (not for want of any get-out-of-bed these people had happily done the hardest job available) no just the pure evils of Capitalism and Imperialism. Those Capitalists should be returning that money they stole to clean up the planet now. Where are they? Their progeny sunning themselves on distant beaches as Rome burns. But at least the world speaks English which is a direct legacy of all that Carboniferous coal in the UK.
